Customized Mercado Bags for Lyft x Peloton
x L’Oréal Latinx Brand Meetup
Background:
In honor of Latinx & Hispanic Heritage Month, Lyft, Peloton, and L'Oréal co-hosted the Latinx Brand Meetup in New York City with the theme “Standing In Our Worth.” The event celebrated the community’s contributions and focused on key issues shaping its future, like the growing political influence of Latino voters. A panel of Latina leaders led discussions on advocacy and identity, creating a powerful experience. To give attendees a meaningful takeaway, we designed custom mercado bags with engraved wooden tags.
Objective:
To create a give-away gift that embodied pride and cultural identity, aligning with the "Standing In Our Worth" theme and emphasizing the event’s celebration of Latinx and Hispanic heritage.
Strategy and Execution:
Design Development:
Understanding the event’s deep focus on heritage, identity, and community impact, we selected the mercado bag—an iconic, practical piece that carries strong cultural meaning in Latinx and Hispanic communities.
Each bag was paired with a custom wooden tag engraved with the event’s hosts and the year, creating a lasting, personalized memento for attendees.
Woodworking Collaboration:
To further enhance the cultural significance and branding, we teamed up with a talented woodworker based in CDMX.
This craftsman created a bespoke branded element to attach to each mercado bag, seamlessly blending traditional artistry with modern branding.
OUTCOME
The customized mercado bags became a highlight of the meetup, providing attendees with a culturally resonant piece that captured the evening’s spirit.
The bags served not only as a reminder of the powerful discussions and messages shared but also as a tribute to the strength and achievements of the Latinx and Hispanic communities.
