Branded Mercado Bags for "El Mercadito" with Amigas Latinas & Cultura Takeover

Background:

In partnership with Amigas Latinas and Cultura Takeover, we supported “El Mercadito”—a vibrant market in DUMBO, Brooklyn, that showcased 20+ Latino and Hispanic vendors. This event provided a unique platform for small businesses to connect with the community, celebrate culture, and promote heritage through handmade goods, art, and cuisine. To enhance the market experience and create a memorable keepsake, we were engaged to design mercado bags with branded wooden tags for the attendees.

Objective:

To create authentic mercado bags with branded wooden tags that embody the cultural spirit of “El Mercadito” while giving attendees a functional, meaningful piece to remember the event and re-use.

Strategy and Execution:

  • Design Development:

    • Drawing inspiration from the lively market atmosphere, we designed mercado bags that were practical yet culturally significant, embodying the traditional Latin American shopping bag style.

    • Each bag included a branded wooden tag featuring “El Mercadito” and cultural symbols, offering attendees a lasting reminder of the event.

  • Collaboration with Local Suppliers:

    • We partnered with local suppliers to craft the mercado bags and engrave the wooden tags with the event’s branding and motifs celebrating Latinx heritage.

    • The tags were designed to add a unique, handmade touch that resonated with the event’s focus on supporting local suppliers.

  • Production Process:

    • With quality and authenticity in mind, each mercado bag was carefully crafted and the wooden tags were intricately engraved for consistency and a polished finish.

    • Final quality checks ensured each bag was a perfect fit for the spirit and community-centered focus of “El Mercadito.”

The branded mercado bags became a popular feature at “El Mercadito,” providing attendees with a stylish, practical piece that honored Latino and Hispanic culture. The bags not only enhanced the market experience but also served as a meaningful takeaway that encouraged community pride and support for local vendors.
